Mrs. Thomas and Dr. Tobey are again implementing an exciting program for Classroom Guidance this year - WHYTRY! Once a month we will be visiting your child's classroom and presenting information to help your child deal with daily challenges. The WhyTry Program teaches youth that trying hard in life and putting effort into challenges is worth it! This proven program consists of ten visual analogies, or pictures, to help show that making good decisions can be difficult, and that doing so results in more opportunity, freedom and self-respect. Giving up takes those away.
In August we are looking at Reality Ride. Ask your child about it. September will be Tearing Off The Labels for 6th & 7th Grade and GA College411 for the 8th Grade. October will be Defense Mechanisms and finishing out 2012 in November/December will be Motivation Formula. Watch for information about our Red Ribbon activities in October along with our annual canned food drive.
The PSAT will be offered on Wednesday, October 31st in the morning. Students may sign up in the Counselors Office until Monday, October 21st. The cost is $14 and must be paid when you sign up. Checks should be made out to EMS.
